click me to enter the menagerie

Foraged scraps and salvaged fragments brought together to create a menagerie of characters. Recreations and remains of distinctive, beautiful beasts that influence and are influenced by our changing landscape.

I use old bicycle seats ready for landfill, small fabric scraps and charity shop finds. A certain amount of wire and padding are required but I do recycle when ever I can.
The Bike Station kindly provide me with a selection of old bicycle seats unfit for further use and Howie R Nicholsby’s 21st century kilts have given me access to a wealth of tweeds, tartans and linings – unusable off cuts from bespoke kiltmaking.
Rather than covering actual skulls, antlers and horns or using anything taxidermy related, I prefer to make pieces from scratch to represent a character. Created from modern scrap but founded on a tradition of trophy rooms, taxidermy and make do and mend.
Watch this space for the next character to enter into the menagerie…
